The original is constructed from stainless steel tubes,
involving regular miter joints, all but one at 90 degrees.
There are two zigzags that intertwine.
Walking around it gives a dynamic optical illusion.
About the title:
Chain-link fence is constructed from intertwined zigzag wires.
The "Fence around nothing" is a minimal chain-link fence around a square garden,
where the north and south zigzags coincide, as do the east and west zigzags.
That leaves no room for anything in the surrounded area.
You could consider it a poor men's fence, for someone without a garden but who still wants a fence.
Also available with a rhombic beam.
