Product Description
The Roman Dodecahedron is a mysterious object whose purpose is unknown. It's been found in archaeologica digs in Roman territory and China. It varies in size from about 1-1/2" to 3" and has been found made of bronze and carved stone.
The hole pattern seems to have no consistency, there's speculation it was used for calculating planting cycles, it's a game piece or even for knitting gloves.
I'm not a scientist and certainly not knowledgeable on ancient coins, but could it be a coin sorter?
It's been found in hoards of coins and it fits comfortably in the palm of your hand.
So I ran with that idea and created a Roman Dodecahedron for sorting contemporary US coins.
There's a Canadian version also, I'm giving one to my granddaughter for Christmas. She's very interested in history and historical objects.
I hope you like it.
