Aurora Nova Cruiser

Somewhat larger than the colonial Pleiades-class, but lacking some of its modularity, the Aurora was designed for rapid mass-production as the mainstay of Earth's defenses. As colonies grow and establish themselves, these ships are being seen defending other worlds as well. 

About one in six Aurora-class cruiser has been refitted recently. The spinal-mounted heavy positron cannon has been replaced with the familiar massive Nova Cannon. This required some rearrangement of internal space (cutting into stores, especially torpedo reloads). The devastating firepower of the Nova cannon is considered well worth it, however.  The Aurora's turret-mount suite is unchanged, maintaining the heavy all-around firepower the class is noted for.
