Product Description
The cavalry/gunship variant of the Anasazi, the UVX-6B adds a pair of removable stub wings for carriage of missiles or guided rockets. Either twelve LAGM missiles, or thirty-two PGRS laser-guided rockets, can be carried at once. The UVX-6B was used as both a gunship and a "lift ship" by Air Cavalry units, usually with two platoons of eight airframes per troop.
Its heavy payload and large size caused rather sluggish performance, especially when operating with the troop compartment doors removed for access and visibility. This lack of performance is exacerbated at high altitudes; an Anasazi at high altitude is typically forced to jettison its weapons before picking up troops. Some units opt to remove the door-mounted 6.5mm miniguns and fly without gunners in order to improve performance. This practice is controversial, as it sacrifices the all-round visibility and firepower provided by the door gunners. On a related note, maintenance crews often "hot-rod" the engines and transmissions of their Anasazis, tuning the fanjet's systems to squeeze every bit of potential from the aircraft.
