This strainer is designed not to let leaves or small critters pass inside your aquarium filter.
It' specifically created for internal filters with diam=24mm circular intakes. It fits intakes with diameter from 23 to 25mm.
The many small (diam=1mm) holes made in the semi-spherical shape of the strainer will let only water go through the filter, offering a wider straining surface for your filter not to easily get clog.
Even I don't think you'll have any problem, please note you should be aware about potential harmful due to the reaction of the chosen material with water. Try your part before putting inside your aquarium.
