Product Description
Background Information:

This is a HO scale model of the CT Valley Railroad's GE 80-Ton Engine 0901.  0901 was built in 1940 by General Electric as a one of the prototype of their new 80-Ton Locomotives. Because of it being a prototype, it has a very unique shape and appearance when compared to the redesigned models.  After it was built, the United States Navy used it, and later it was sold to Pfizer Co. in 1958 and the VRR/Friends of the VRR in 1992. The engine is still at work today at the Essex Steam Train & Riverboat / Valley Railroad. 0901 is one of the Valley's fleet of 80 tonners primarily used to pull the Valley's premier Essex Clipper Dinner Train .  Making it one of, if not the oldest, diesel locomotives in the USA still in revenue service.

Model Features:

This model is the product of many hours of research, measurements, modeling, and trail and error.  The model’s appearance is mainly based on the engines current appearance at the Valley. However I have included 3 different types of whistles that the engine has worn over the years. (2 versions of the Hancock air horn and a generic horn). Choose your favorite variation. Due to the level of fine detail added to the model it can only be printed in the fine detail plastic. Prices are set by Shapways calculations but, I am working out how much it would be for me to print these models at home. I will post an update when I have more information.

It is designed to be a replacement shell for a Bachmann 70-Ton Diesel Locomotive, both DC and DCC versions. It has been pre tapped to accept the factory screws of the stock 70-ton body. The factory screws should fit with there screw as well. You could also always convert to a Kadee box with modifications. There will also be some minor modifications needed in order to fit the headlights.

Pre-Assembly Instructions:

Once you receive your model, there is some items that must be removed before screwing into the factory body. there are a few spurs inside the model that hold the assortment of whistles, bell, underframe details, headlights, and the front/rear bumpers.  This can be removed carefully from the body with an blade or a small saw. The headlights are designed to hold a 3mm LED that can replace the factory lights. A soft white color would match the prototype best. Whistles can be attached by glue to the roof or by enlarging the starter holes on the roof to slide the pins into. The bumpers should be glued to the front and back lining up with the modeled slots. The steps are similar and should be glue on the sides of the running board.

I hope you enjoy this model, as it has been a become my first super-detailed model of an engine and being a VRR engine makes it close to home. Please feel free to reach out if there are any questions or comments regarding the model.

I have created a instructional PDF on how to assemble the model here:  https://drive.google.com/file/d/1KplGlvRf7YwANYLYMGbuI-uZ4YNeVWKT/view?usp=sharing
