Disclaimer: This power source adapter for 3M BreatheEasy PAPR Powered Air Purifying Respirator System filters is not NIOSH approved, and is intended for use only when approved power sources are not available to medical professionals.
These two parts form a connector which can be used to adapt a USB power bank to supply current to a 3M BreatheEasy PAPR unit. You will need this print, a USB cable, and a piece of 18ga copper wire (most small-appliance power cords are 18ga). Feed your 18ga wire through the small holes at the back of the socket insert, wrap around the back and twist together. Cut the end off your USB cable, feeding the whole thing through the back of the outer housing. Feed the white and green data wires through the center hole of the insert, tie in an overhand knot and pull back into the recess (this forms a strain-relief for the power wires). Solder the red and black wires to your 18ga "contacts." The third 'bottom' pin is not connected to power or ground and only serves to help retain the PAPR power cord into the socket. Push the insert into the outer housing until it clicks into place. For greater durability, use the hole in the outer housing to fill the assembled connector's cavity with hot-melt glue.
A "10,000mAh" USB power bank should power a BreatheEasy PAPR unit for over 8 hours per charge.
