Product Description
This two piece converter kit allows you to convert the standard Sony ECM-CS3 mic housing from an omni-directional opposing element design to a more directional oriented housing. This will aim the elements towards your speaking direction in order to aid in the reduction of captured background noise picked up by either of the original opposing elements. Kit is mounted to the interior curved surface at the front of your helmet with 3M VHB double sided tape.
Instructions:
1) Remove the hinge pin, spring and upper half from the Sony ECM-CS3's lapel clip
2) Remove the screw and detach the lower half of the lapel clip. Place screw in secure place
3) Separate mic casing, remove elements and rubber isolators. Discard casing and dust gaurds to nearest recycle bin.
4) Insert rubber isolators into front half of kit.
5) Insert left and right elements into rubber isolators. Element with shortest wire goes into hole closest to cableway. See product photos for reference.
6) Route wire in wireway to avoid pinching and place both kit halves together. Secure with screw from original housing.
7) Mount with double sided tape to interior front of helmet, enjoy.
*Notes:
- This kit requires the dissasembly of the the original mic housing to mount the elements, original wiring, and screw into the two halves of the conversion kit. Special care must be taken during both assembly and dissasembly to ensure mic elements and wiring remain undamaged.
- If you prefere a part in another color not offered, the white polished option may be purchased instead with a bit of DIY elbow grease to dye the part yourself to the color you want.

- Dyes used for colored components on shapeways (white is uncolored) are water based and need to be sealed with a UV resistant clear coat for maintaining color appearance with exposure outdoors.
- Fiebing's Leather Dye is an alcohol based waterproof alternative but will still require sealing with a water based UV protectant. (Solvent based sprays may cause the color to run).
