Product Description
Geometry:
The Octoloid is a strange octahedral shape that is based on the shape of my previous QuadStar puzzle. While QuadStar has twelve sides, the Octoloid only has eight since the four smaller sides of QuadStar have been eliminated. Those four sides greatly complicated making a face-turning puzzle. Eliminating them actually made it feasible, while still allowing the puzzle to work. Of course, Octoloid is a jumbling puzzle, and will be extremenly difficult to solve once thoroughly scrambled. I called the puzzle "Octoloid" since the shape is reminiscent of a faceted oloid (although it is not truly equivalent, as that geometry would not make a functional puzzle).

Other Items Needed:
Dye: If you want the puzzle to be black, you'll need to dye the pieces yourself with a nylon dye such as RIT or Dylon, or you could have Shapeways dye the parts for you at an additional cost.
Stickers: Template available in the tips & how-tos forum. If you want professionally cut stickers, I recommend Oliver’s Stickers or Chewie's Custom Stickers.
Screws: Eight 12mm M3 pan head screws required, available in hardware stores or on the web.
Springs: 8 springs needed, available in web puzzle shops. I get mine from HK Now Store.

Degree of Difficulty:
Assembly: Moderately easy to assemble.
Solving: Insanely difficult to solve.

Playability:
The Octoloid turns easily, and doesn't tend to pop.

Have fun!
