Realizing that a war cannot be won if the infantry are annihilated, the government tasked Olympiadica Manufacturing to design a tank capable of confronting enemy forces while also providing physical cover for infantry. In addition, due to the vulnerability of standard infantry support tanks to mechs they ordered a vehicle capable of evening the odds. Olympiadica Manufacturing developed the Erets Mk1 Battle Tank and the Mk1a Siege Tank to fit the bill. Heavily armored and with a front housed engine the Erets is capable of both deflecting enemy fire and eliminating enemy targets while providing mobile cover to friendly infantry and the Mk1a is capable of melting through mech armor. In order to avoid loss in government funding and to fulfill the additional requirement the engineers quickly adapted the turret of the Mk1, replacing the primary cannon with a high energy beam weapon capable of melting through mech armor like a hot knife through caramel (though none of them were sure why one would use a hot knife on caramel). However, there was one draw back of the rushed design, the power coils for the main gun were particularly vulnerable since they were exposed. Thanks to this quick thinking (and the savings the company enjoyed by using the same chassis as the Mk1), Olympiadica Manufacturing stayed in business (take that Vaecors!).
