DS-75 (Vacant Region)

Deep Space 75 is a Federation space station set in the vacant region of the beta quadrant. Formerly a gas mining platform, DS75 was moved to the vacant region after it was discovered the region was rich with dilithium gas*. The vacant region got its name from the fact that it was literally impossible to obtain sensor data for an area of .06 light years. The station is populated with approximately 500 Federation and Starfleet personnel and is capable of warp 2. For defense, the station has 4 phaser banks and 2 torpedo launchers. The lower ring of the station is equipped with 24 collection cylinders used to analyze and collect a wide variety of elements from the vacant region. The closest populated world is Malkor-7 and the station has had a few isolated skirmishes with the race (Malkorians) a warp capable species who have taken exception to the Federation's presence. *Under intense pressure, dilithium gas forms crystals
