This conversion is designed to make a Trinity 3260 cuft 100 ton cement car (built 1998 / 1999) out of the early version of the Walthers 100ton cement car (kit with seperate roof, not the RTR version)
The following parts are needed to compete:
Tichy Ladder Rungs.
19in drop Grab Irons from Detail Associate (Qty 4)
3 off 30in round hatches, although the parts in the Walthers kit are adequate, Tangent Scale Models has made a availble a much nicer part
Roof Walk - Plano #10868 (designed for the Walthers car) with Supports made from Plano #118.
Stirrups - Detail Associate 6413, mounting holes are provided in the correct positions although these may be trimmed to better represent the prototype.
Depending on the level of detail desires, replacement brake system, Draft Gear and Trucks, I will be using Moloco draft gear and Athearn ASF 100 ton trucks on my cars.
The ends have a temporary stiffener added to aid shipping, this is to be removed before assembly.
Each end is marked with its appropiate identifiaction letter as well as each end of the roof
Although this car is not as common as its slightly smaller cousin, there are a number of different operators and are usually seen in groups of similar cars; listed are some of the number series:
