This centrifuge head is 3D printed in Shapeways’ strong and flexible plastic, and can hold four standard 1.5 ml Eppendorf microcentrifuge tubes. It has been made to fit the ‘BrewSci DIY microcentrifuge motor, speed control & power supply kit’ available at BrewSci.net.
For this centrifuge head you can convert RPM to G as follows:
(1.000 RPM = 56G)
(2.500 RPM = 350 G)
(3.000 RPM = 500 G | spin down whole cells, cell nuclei)
(4.600 RPM = 1180 G).
Please note that while we have tested the centrifuge head at 4.600 RPM, which is the top speed for the motor in the ‘BrewSci DIY microcentrifuge motor, speed control & power supply kit’, it is sold as a decorative object, as we cannot suggest that you use it for centrifugation for safety reasons. Using it for any other purpose than decoration is undertaken entirely at the risk of the user, and we accept no responsibility for any negative consequences resulting from the use of this item.
