What's this?
This part is a replacement for the worm gear (part number 4207478) in the Braun KM32 kitchen machine. As far as my search of the internet goes, the original replacement part isn't for sale anymore.
About the design
The original part is made from plastic with a metal core. It probably breaks quite often due to its design, which might be a safety mechanism, to prevent other parts of the gear box from breaking in case of overload.
This replacement is designed somewhat differently (without the steel core) to make it simpler. To increase its robustness, the teeth don't extend along the whole length of the part but only where they are supposed to touch the worm.
Somewhat a prototype
The part should still be considered somewhat a prototype.
One copy has been working in my KM32 for a quite a few months now. It has accumulated approximately 11 hours of operating time, partly under heavy duty (kneading dough) and does not yet show any signs of imminent failure. It might continue working for quite some time but only time will tell.
Current status
145 copies have been ordered by customers. No complaints yet. 11 of these were made from the processed plastic. The polished variant should be more durable, but there's no reliable evidence of that yet.

I'd be glad to get feedback from you. Did the assembly work fine? Are the diameters of the holes for the pin and the shaft right? ...
