Product Description
This is the Right Hand side gearcase to convert a Tamiya TRF211XM or TRF201XM/XMW, or TRF201XR to a 3 gear laydown transmission. You will need this part, the Left Hand gearcase (,  and either the transmission brace if you have the TRF211XM (, or the TRF201 Waterfall if you have a TRF201XR/M/MW ( You will also need the new Hole Guide V2 (

This Version 2 brings improved motor clearance, and the option for a Spur Gear Cover. If you do not want a Spur Cover then you need to purchase the Spur Cover Spacer ( If you want a cover there are two options. The small cover extends over the top of the spur gear to protect your body shell. It is this part ( The large cover fully encircles the spur gear right down to the tub for extra protection, and has fixing tabs so a front closure plate can be made from lexan sheet if you want to fully enclose the spur gear. It is part (

To complete the conversion you will need:
Yokomo YZ2 43t idler: Z2-503ic
Yokomo YZ2 ilder shaft: Z2-303I
Yokomo YZ2 CAL2 motor plate: Z2-304C
CTE RC 3GL suspension tower (available from Fibre Lyte: email
CTE RC 3GL Battery plate (available from Fibre Lyte:
Tamiya 51449 DN01 R Parts or the 54142 DB01R High Traction
Reinforced Arms. The 51313 arms DO NOT WORK.

(These are the TRF rear arms which have shock holes both sides to allow the front mounted shocks on this conversion. The DB01 arms on the TRF211 do not work)

You will also need assorted bearings and fasteners.
Diff/outdrive bearings - 2 x 1510
Idler - 2 x 1050
Slipper Shaft - 1 x 840, 1 x 1050

It uses the stock rear suspension and clears the 3.0, XA and XB aluminium inboard rear suspension blocks (but not the plastic one from the original TRF201 kit). You do not need the special tapered front block from the XM conversions for this gearcase.

For fasteners you need need:
2  x Countersink head M3 x 6 (front gearcase to tub)
2  x Countersink head M3 x 7 (middle gearcase to tub)
2  x Countersink head M3 x 20 (rear gearcase to tub)
2  x Countersink head M3 x 15 (new front battery stop holes drilled using drill guide)
1  x Countersink head M3 x 10 (rearmost motor plate)
2  x Countersink head M3 x 35 (the other 2 motor plate/gearcase halves)
1 x cap head M3 x 15 (rearmost gearcase)
2 x cap head M3 x 20 (middle gearcase and front top gearcase/transmission brace)
1 x cap head M3 x 25 + M3 nut (front transmission brace to battery stop)
4 x cap head M3 x 10 (shock tower mounting)

The bearing seats should all be cleaned out with a scalpel/Xacto knife. The 2.5mm holes should be tapped with an M3 tap. After using the drill guide to drill the front holes with a 3.1mm drill, on the TRF211 plastic tub open out the countersinks using an Xactoknife. Do not use a drill. For the aluminium XM/XR plate, drill the holes and open out the countersinks with a proper M3 countersink drill bit.
