custom zombie slayer
This is 1/48 scale? Yes... and no.
At true 1/48 scale many of the human limbs print at 1mm or less and this makes for super fragile figures. All of the prototype figures printed needed me to sculpt a layer of epoxy putty around the wrists(which is a good preventative fix btw). So I was forced to make all of the womens limbs thicker and a good few of the thinner men. Likewise for all weapons- at scale they are often 0.5mm or less. Will that print? Yes. Will it make a miniature that you can handle- NOPE.
Aside from the above compromises I have used 1/48 scale to set the height of my figures. I chose this scale as it actually covers a fairly wide range of heights. Because I am doing character models their heights will vary:
Measuring from toe to top of head (because thats how we do it with miniatures at scale)
a 25mm figure is 4 scale feet high a 30mm figure is 4 foot 9 inches at scale a 32mm figure is 5 scale feet high a 36mm figure is about 5 feet 6 inches (close enough) a 38mm figure is 6 scale feet high etc
