This envelopping shape mixes the rigor of trigonometry with the organic softness of voronoï tesselation. It's a complete redesign of the smaller version of "Spherocircles" : I exploited the larger scale to get a finer voronoï tesselation and controlled the mean thickness to keep printing price at a reasonable level for an object of this size.
This surface comes from the exploration of so-called "tennis ball curves". A variety of such curves exist and this one uses very clean sections of circles obtained by intersecting six well chosen planes with a sphere.
Spherocircles is ideal to protect and attract the attention to any art object of you own, that can just sit in the center of it and still be contemplated through its six circular openings. It can also be used as a light shade.
