Mk7-X Heavy Mech

There had been too much coffee and too many late nights working on the Mk6 and Mk7 platforms. Thus, one day the team awoke at their desks to find that in their stupor someone had thought, "Hay, why not axes?" and then left the manufactory operating all night pumping the stupid things out. What choice did they have, they weren't going to waste the material and expenses incurred in absent mindedly manufacturing them. Besides, the government was certainly dumb enough to buy into the idea as an actually field-able option.
