This replacement latch for the Ryobi case works pretty well, but (like the original) it needs to be used gently or it too will break. Originally designed for a friend who (like you?) discovered there is NOWHERE on the planet to get these things, they've helped many others who found themselves short of a replacement buckle after the original failed.
Many have bought
a couple of these and found they work for quite a while, but can indeed break again if used a bit too agressively. This set-of-four is an attempt to make it cheaper to get a few standby replacements, while limiting cost. Bundling four reduces the overhead a bit. Indeed they're still not cheap, being on-demand manufactured here, but hopefully this is a bit more accessible for those who want a few in reserve.
