50mm Shock Mount to Rode Blimp Adapter

Generic 50mm diameter mics like the BM-700 and BM-800 make great donor bodies for DIY mic building, and as long as the end product is used indoors that's the end of the DIY build. But as soon as you take a mic outside to do field recording or to record at an outdoor venue, wind protection becomes essential.

Most wind protection is geared  toward SDCs like the MKH-416, the Schoeps Colette series, or the newer 80XX series. Wind protection for 50mm diameter mics is typically limited to the foam windscreens they come with or small dead cats like the ones available from Movo. Neither are particularly useful in anything but the lightest of breezes.

This adapter allows you to take apart the stock metal shock mount that comes with the BM-?00 mics and mount them on a Rode Blimp rail. It requires two M3x6mm screws since the ones that come with the Rode Blimp are too long. (Hang onto your lyre shock mounts!) The ring fits inside the blimp body with a little room to spare.
