This pendant is inspired by the budding yeast, Saccharomyces cerevisiae. Saccharomyces is not only an indispensable organism for baking bread, brewing beer and making wine but also is an important model organism for scientists. In addition to being easy to grow, Saccharomyces is also easy to genetically transform and is used for the production of recombinant proteins.
