Product Description
This is a more authentic replacement balance weight for the Hornby R6004 Operating crane truck (aka Triang/Hornby R127). These were based on a series of hand cranes built by Cowans Sheldon Ltd during the second world war, with capacities ranging from 5 to 10 tons.
This particular weight represents that fitted to ADM 27, a 10-ton crane, built by Cowans in 1944 for the LMS. This was later withdrawn from BR service in October 1982, (as running number ADM 27) and purchased from Rugby diesel depot by the Ivatt Trust, who presented it to the Quainton Railway Society.
In order top use the original balance weight on the crane needs to be filed down to form a back plate 1mm thick. The replacement weight can then be securedinto position with caynoacrylite adhesive.
