Product Description
This is a custom hanging Christmas ornament with "Grand Canyon 2018" in recessed letters. Hi!

Model scale is 1:750000
Model measures 2.9" x 2.2" x 0.49" (7.3 x 5.7 x 1.25 cm)
Original area is approximately 34 by 26 miles
Altitudes covered: 2182' to 9187'
This model was built with vertical exaggeration of 1:2.
This means that the elevation is more steep and rugged in the model than in real life.

This model is also available with a silver cord and velvet bag from TinyMtn on Etsy.

TinyMtn models are most affordable in the "White Natural Versatile Plastic" and "Sandstone" materials. This model is in "White Natural Versatile Plastic." When you receive the model, there may still be Nylon dust on it from the printing process. Use either an airbrush, canned dust blower, or a soft old toothbrush to remove this dust. Do not get the "Versatile Plastic" material wet, and don't prime it or use any oil-based paints on it. You can safely seal it with Polycrylic or a similar water-based clear spray sealant. Read more about this popular material here.

The "Fine Detail Plastic" material will show more detail, but is semi-transparent and has an uneven surface texture when unpainted (due to the orientation of the model when Shapeways prints it). It may show up feeling a little greasy and with small crystals in crevasses. Clean those off by soaking the model in warm (but not hot) soapy water and brushing with an old toothbrush. To get the surface to an even matte finish, spray with a few light coats of sandable primer (white automotive primer works), and then do a baking soda grit-blast.

All TinyMtn models have hollow bottoms - this is to save on weight, and thus cost. Many larger models also have extra flanges on their undersides to increase rigidity and strength. To make the model more solid, you should feel free to carefully pour resin into the bottom cavity, or glue a properly-sized slab of wood or another material into it.

These models have been optimized for the above materials, and are not offered in other materials for strength or cost reasons. If you need one in another material, please tinymtnbiz@gmail.com and we'll do our best to fulfill your request.
