Product Description
Being the fourth and last ship of the Kiev-class carriers, the Admiral Gorshkov (originally Baku) serves as a test-bed for weapon systems that will be installed into the (then) future Kuznetsov-calss carriers. As such, it sees major difference in sensor system and weaponaries than the previous ships.
The most visible changes include:
Twin barrel turrents are replaced with 100mm single barrel ones re-positioned in front of the bridge, this freed up space for additional anti-ship missiles.
The replacement of rail launchers with vertical launch systems (VLS).
The addition of passive electronically scanned array (PESA)
The bridge has been re-designed to accomodate these systems.
These test-bed systems will eventually be incoporated into the Kuznetsov-class carrier and the Baku itself will be further re-fitted into the INS Vikramaditya.
