Product Description
The Piper J-3 Cub is a light aircraft that was built between 1937 and 1947. The aircraft has a simple, lightweight design which gives it good low-speed handling properties and short-field performance. The Cub is one of the best known light aircraft of all time, a staple of American aviation comparable to the Ford Model T automobile for it's popularity and numbers produced.
This model was created on request, and completed within a few hours of non-stop work. One of the newer challenges with this aircraft was trying to capture the fabric textures on the top surfaces of the wing. You can very clearly see the fabric overlaying the steel frame anytime one of these lands at an airfield, and I tried to capture that effect. Not an exact science, and I am sure to tweak it in the future once I create other fabric-covered models, but this turned out beautifully and I hope you enjoy it all the same.
