Product Description
This is an aftermarket battery holder designed to fit the Kyosho Rocky RC car from the 1980's.
Designed for 7.2V NiCd/NiMH 6 cell stick pack battery length:  134mm maximum, measured on top edge.

Unique release mechanism is easy to use yet won't allow battery to fall out during driving.

This battery holder snaps into place to hold the main battery so it doesn't fall out of the chassis.
This is much faster and easier to use than the plastic zip tie or battery holding strap from the stock setup.

How to install:
  1. Slide battery pack into Rocky chassis.
  2. Slide battery holder into place (right-to-left) pushing tab through the tie down strap hole until it clicks.

How to uninstall:
1. Press down on battery holder release tab while sliding to the right until tab exits tie down strap hole.
2. Remove battery pack.

Choosing which battery holder you need:
This is the 8mm version designed for 7.2V NiCd and NIMH battery packs that are no longer than 134mm in length end-to-end measured at the top edge.  The "8mm" refers to the width of the battery holder between the edge of the clip and the right-angle drop down that holds the battery in place.
Eyeballing it:  If the battery pack sticks out of the Rocky chassis slightly when installed while looking down from the top, then this 8mm holder should work fine.   If the battery pack does not stick out beyond the chassis, then the 6mm version is what you need.

A 6mm version of the battery holder is also available (see store listing) which accomodates slightly shorter battery packs, such as NiCd 2000mAh, NIMH 1800mAh or similar which are no longer than 132mm in length end-to-end measured at the top edge.

Why not just buy the 8mm version (this one) and forget about the 6mm version?
Answer:  Because a shorter battery pack will slide side-to-side in the battery slot and slam against the chassis battery holding tab and this battery holder and the impact force could break the tab or holder if done repeatedly.

Each battery pack manufacturer has different lengths, even for similar mAh ratings, so be sure to check which size you need before ordering or just order both battery holders to be safe.

If you have a battery pack that is longer than 134mm, please contact me and we can discuss a wider version of the holder to accomodate your needs.
