Product Description
Original pendant inspired by the greco-roman religion and the apollonian cult.
Neptune/Poseidon is the god of the sea and rivers, saltwater and freshwater, rainstroms, floods, and horses (epithet Hippios "of a horse"). He is the brother of Jupiter/Zeus. He is patron of fishermen (epithet sōtêra nēôn "savior of boats") and sailors (epithet Pelagios "of the open sea") and also of brothers (epithets Phratrios "of the brotherhood" & Genethlios "of the race or family").
His  name Poseidawōn (Ποσειδάων) means master of waters: "lord" (Greek πόσις (posis), from PIE *pótis), and "water" (Doric δᾶϝον (dâwon), PIE *dah₂- "water").
The pendant is made up of waves, 12 of them, the sacred number of greco-roman religion as it is the number of Olympian gods. The circle made by the waves is topped by 12 rays, showing  his domain lies under the domain of the sun and the sky (Apollo & Jupiter). Apollo and Poseidon worked closely, notably in the founding of cities, where Apollo provided the authorization to go out and settle, while Poseidon watched over the settlers on their way, and provided the lustral water for the foundation ritual. Also Xenophon described a group of Spartan soldiers in 400 B.C singing to Poseidon a paean, a praising hymn normally sung for Apollo.
Inside the circle is a horse's head as he was the god of fresh water in which horses would drink, and he was riding a horse-headed fish into the sea.
In the center is Poseidon Artemisium's bust, one of the earliest classical statues, in the severe style. The bust is on a trident, a three-pronged fisherman's spear, and the design here is an exact copy of the trident painted on the Poseidon & Giant Polybotes vase from 5th century B.C.
