Product Description
Wave springs can be more compact that regular coil springs giving them an advantage in certain applications. This spring set was designed for evaluation rather than any specific use.
Both springs in the set are of the same design but one has been doubled in size in the x and y dimensions. Both springs are the same height. The individual layers of each spring segment are divided into four complete waves. Six layers are connected together with each alternating layer being rotated by a set amount.
I have not characterized these springs in terms of physical characteristics such as a k constant. However I can say the small spring is much stiffer as compared to the larger one (in plain white plastic). I don't have an analytic way of predicting spring behavior but it's not too hard to guess at what modifications will make a spring stiffer or softer. Production in any metal is likely to produce a static non-springy spring due to the thicknesses required.
Don't need a spring? The smaller one just happens to fit on my pinky so there are potential ring or other jewelry applications. They are also fun to fidget around with. Seriously, tell me what to do with these things.
