Made of acrylic material.<br /><br />The manufacturing process is capable of extremely high detail with a smooth surface. <br /><br />The surfaces of all 3D printed products are porous due to the drop by drop nature of depositing material. These products are not food safe because they are porous. Do not place in your mouth. They are not FDA approved. They are not safe to be used as toys for children. They could be a choking hazard.<br /><br />This item is unpainted. Prior to painting, it is suggested to clean and prime the surface. To clean, dip in acetone to remove dust and oils. Then, apply a 3D primer such as Badger 3D prime or 3D Prime to seal the striations and porosity associated with the printing process. 1 to 3 coats should do the job. The primer can be applied with a spray gun or with a brush to provide a nice smooth surface for painting. Paints come in numerous colors including many flesh tones and others common to the navies of these times. Choose a paint that is compatible with acrylic plastic material. You may protect the paint with a coat of varnish or lacquer. A nice quality model paint. like Viello, can be sprayed on brushed on the surface.
