Overview
For those not aware, UCI rules prevent track cyclists from mounting their GPS device where it can be read whilst racing. A simple rule to improve safety whilst on the track.
I've tried a number of different solutions myself and have seen a number of DIY attempts on other bikes but have now designed a mount which gives me the best method of carrying my computer whilst track racing.
This Wahoo Elemnt mount is a variant of the Garmin Saddle Mount previously released.
Application
The mount fixes to almost all saddle rails and holds your Wahoo device at the back of your saddle where it has minimal aerodynamic effect. The position is convenient for starting/stopping an activity as well as removing your device.
The below hardware is also required and very simple to source locally:
- 1x M5x30mm Cap Screw
- 1x M5 Locking Hex Nut
Receiving your mount
Because there are multiple parts to the Wahoo Mount the 3D model is printed with a loop. A 2mm tube through the hole centres (not touching) of each part. This keeps the items together and simplifies processing. When you receive your mount simply cut the loop with pliers or scissors and discard.
About Me
I’m a MEng Aerospace Engineer and former professional cyclist. All the items, including this mount, are ones which I’ve developed and use myself. A hobby which I take too far but want to share with others.
Feel free to get in contact with any questions or feedback. Individual customisation will be considered.
