Designed for the Italeri 1:48 scale Westland Wessex kit, this 3D printed exhaust (4 included) replaces the kit part with a more accurate and more detailed part.
This set does *not* include the flotation guards fitted to some exhausts. As always, check your references to see if flotation guards were fitted to the aircraft you are building
The kit part as in most other model kits has the exhaust detail incorrect. The 3 'rings' around the exhaust are not in fact 3 rings and not present on the real thing. The outer 'ring' is the edge of the reinforcement lip, the inner 'ring' is actually a welded seam. Only the center ring is correct. This annular ring is there to add rigidity to the exhaust.
I have tried to capture those features in this design.
Some striations may be present in the printed part due to the printing process but these are easily removed by sanding with a micro-mesh strip.
4 exhausts in total are included in this part.
2 exhausts are fitted with an integral flange for internal mounting.
2 exhausts are supplied with a separate flange if you wish to add teh exhausts after painting the fuselage.
Note: Some kit modification is necessary to use these parts
On the Italeri kit, the exhaust opening is partially closed - this needs to be opened up to the full diameter, and the internal mounting block removed. This is an easy job to sand flush with the fuselage insides.
If using the Exhaust with separate flange, remove the excess material as described above, and glue the disc on the inside of the fuselage, concentric with the exhaust opening. Once the kit has been painted, just slot the exhaust into the opening to butt up against the flange.
