Product Description
This piece is made for the National Gallery of Denmark jewellery competition.
Inspired by the painting, Trompe l'Oeil with Trumpet, Celestial Globe and Proclamation by Frederik III, from 1670 by Cornelius Norbertus Gijsbrechts - Oil on canvas.
I chose it for several reasons. The detailed calligraphy, which inspired the shank of the ring. The compass, which commands attention on the far right of the painting and the symbolism it holds.
The translation, deception of the eye, spoke to me. It is a intriguing concept, one I try to play with in my own designs.
