Product Description
The australian Destroyer Escort HMAS Swan III entered service in 1970. The Swan III was part of the series of River Class Destroyer Escorts. Ordered in 1964 the design based on the british Type 12 Class Frigate and elements of the improved Leander Class. She was armed with a twin 4,5in Mk. VI Turret, a Seacat AA-Missile Launcher, Limbo ASW Motar and an Ikara ASW Missilie Laucher. 
The Swan was into service until 1996, the last months as a training ship for midshipman.  After cleaning the ship, removing armament and so on, the Swan III was scuttled as artifical reef near Point Piquet, Western Austtralia, Dec. 17, 1997. The 4,5in Turred was preserved in Princess Royal Fortress Museum, Albany, Australia. Around 15.000 Diviers visting the Wreck each year.
Der australische Geleitzerstörer HMAS Swan IIIwurde 1970 in Dienst gestellt. Die Swan III gehörte zur River Klasse von Geleitzerstörern, welche auf dem Entwurf der britischen Typ 12 und den moderneren Leander Klasse Fragatten beruhte. Die Swan III war mit einem 4,5in (110mm) Mk. VI Doppelturm, einem Seacat Fla-Raketenwerfer, Limbo U-Boot-Abwehr Mörser und einem Ikara U-Boot-Abwehr Raketenwerfer bewaffnet.
Die Swan III  bieb bis 1996 in Dienst, davon die letzten Monate als Kadetten-Schulschiff.
Nachdem die Swan III gesäubert und die Bewaffnung entfernt wurde, wurde sie als künstliches Riff vor Point Piquest, Westaustralien, versenkt. Der 4,5in Turm wird heute im Princess Royal Museum, Albany, Australien ausgestellt. Jährlich 15.000 Taucher besuchen das Wrack.
