I also suggest you rubbercoating the inside of the frame using a spray version from either Performix or Rust-Oleum to prevent scratching.
I have been conversing with the CEO of Occipital about making updating my app "4eyes Scanner" for their latest SDK and work with the in correctly the slight curvature deformation produced when scanning flat surfaces in the app instead of having to do so in post. If this is accomplished in the way I hope, the peformance impact will be neglible and as side benefit allow better stiching when trying to scan with the lens around objects like the human head. Frankly, I have found its best use is in scanning faces. This upper torso scan of my wife was done with the Scanect software and this 4eyes lens.
NOTE: The len's fit in the frame is tight so it is suggested that you put a thin film of gladwrap on the sensor, place the bracket on the sensor then push in the lenses with even pressure. You can also print out the Structure sensor model from Occipital's developer page to use as a support.
