Product Description
NOTE: If you are buying this button for a Funtastic or opaque colored shell, choose "Large" for your size. If you are fitting this button for a gray shell, choose "Small." Why is this? Gray shells have a slightly smaller hole for a start button. Who knew?
This button is great for people who play in tournaments where it is an automatic "loss" if you pause the game during a match. This is, of course, a common rule at Super Smash Bros. 64 tournaments. As a side effect, it will look like a gorgeous lens, much like a polished steel or bronze (golden) bowl inside the N64 joystick.
This button is modeled after the already tried-and-true cast of my standard Start button which works perfectly in OEM shells. It has been tested and functions perfectly.
The rendered picture is deceiving. This button comes out perfectly smooth and looks as smooth as a perfectly mirror polished bowl. The real-life photos are a better example of how the button will look (that one is in Rhodium plated brass).
Rose gold has more of a copper-gold look. (psst. it might match a bronze stick pretty well?)
Gold is very shiny gold color 18k gold is slightly more yellow and 14k gold is slightly more copper-ish, but both are more yellow than plain polished brass.
Rhodium is a very shiny silver color that is very durable. Unplated polished brass will slowly tarnish over time, but might be an effect that you like. Unplated brass looks kind of gold colored.
Unplated polished bronze will slowly tarnish over time, but might be an effect that you like. Unplated bronze looks kind of slightly more reddish colored than yellow brass. This will match your bronze Tao joystick if you have one. Polished silver will tarnish over time, but it will be very very slow. Silver is more of a noble metal than is brass, thus the jump in price. Vermeil is gold plated silver. This is a premium option that will never tarnish. It will appear as though it is gold just like gold plated brass but will be mostly sterling silver instead of brass. Sorry for the high cost, but vermeil is pricey.
I've included various options for plating the button. If you have any questions, DM me on our discord!
Here is a video showing the luster and fit of the button in a N64 controller shell. Even though this button has a different logo, the base of the button is the exact same size. The first button is plated in 18k gold, the second is plated in rhodium. The buttons in the video below are standard height. A video is coming with a low profile bowled button soon:
