Early drafts of the 'maximum battleship' designs by the US Navy (better known as Tillman battleships) considered a quadruple 18''/50 turret as part of the main armament, but this was dropped in the six designs that were eventually presented.
This particular model was redesigned to fit the 16'' sextuple turret barbette of Tillmans II and IV.
