RKLX - detailed - set of 4

N scale model of RKLX wagons used for carrying scrap bins or yellow coil containers (aka "butter boxes") on Victorian broad gauge trains between the Melbourne Yard on Footscray Rd to the BlueScope Steel steelworks at Hastings. Requires frosted ultra detail. Set of 4, attached to a sprue to help protect the models from damage in manufacture and handling. These are designed to use Microtrains 1015 body mount couplers (glued, the deck is not thick enough for screws)  and 1031 trucks. Extra weight to improve running can by added to loads on the wagons such as in the false floor of the scrap bins, and/or into the hollow underbelly, designed for 2mm shot for weight (as per the RCJF model).   

 

This is a one piece model, including shunter steps and brake wheel.

 

NOTE: The steps are over size for strength. If desired, these can be cut off and replaced with brass shunter steps from Spirit Design

WARNING: The brake wheel has 8 fine spokes which can easily be broken during handling or shipping. If desired, these can be cut off and replaced with brass brake wheels from Spirit Design.
