C&O SD18

This is an HO Scale model of the Chesepeake & Ohio EMD SD18 locomotives built in the early 1960s. These locomotives survived into the Chessie System era in the 1980s.

This model includes the long hood, cab with number board inserts, and nose. The body shell is designed to sit on the frame and walkway of either a Proto 2000 SD7/9 or an Atlas SD24. With either donor model, remove the hood, cab, and the cab subframe/battery boxes, leaving only the walkway, hand rails, and pilots. The modeler will also need to supply all of the necessary detail parts to complete it including radiator/dynamic brake fans, hood grab irons and ladders, lift rings, radiator intake grilles, and window glazing. Also needed is a set of Alco RSD 4/5 3-axle trucks as the C&O SD18s were built with trade-in Alco trucks.
