Product Description
This pentagonal tiling is based on the nice properties of the golden ratio.
The tiling is based on two triangles (golden and silver) derived from a decagon trigonometry.
Roger Penrose has discovered rules to make beautiful aperiodic tiling based on this geometry.
The deccagon dissection with these triangles can represents the orthogonal projection (vertex first) of the tricontahedron (a Catalan solid, dual to the icosidodecahedron).
3 versions are available depending on the common length of the two triangles :
- small (d = 4mm)
- medium (d = 1 cm)
- large (d= phi cm = 1.618... cm)
.
For d = 1cm, the radius of the tiling (no thickness) is then phi^5 = 5.phi + 3 = 11.09 cm (ref properties of phi powers).
