Product Description
The P4M lost out to Lockheed's P2V Neptune in the maritime reconnaissance role, but saw limited service as a high-speed minelayer and long-range electronic reconnaissance aircraft. It succeeded the PB4Y-2 in the latter role and was itself supplanted by the EA-3B. About 20 Mercators were built.
