Product Description
Designed by George Stephenson, Locomotion No. 1 remains an icon of the early railways. Hauling the inaugural train on the Stockton & Darlington Railway of 1825 – the first public railway – it was a notable advance in locomotive design, notably through the use of coupling rods linking the wheels. This model originated as a jumbo-ised N Gauge engine, suitably altered to 00 operative tolerances and to fit proprietary parts.
This set of components is intended for use with the 00 Scale Locomotion loco and tender (separately available), and comprise:
‘Plug’ wheels (ready-gauged on axle and – correctly for Locomotion – NOT quartered)
Valve gear and beam support
Coupling rod cranks and washers (x2 each)
Beams (x2)
Pistons (x2)
Collectively these scratch aids enable an unpowered free-rolling model engine that can be ‘motorised’ by coupling to a power source such as: https://www.shapeways.com/product/F9H5PPBEC/00-scale-open-truck-motorised
