Product Description
A 3mm:1ft scale version of my British Railways 24.5 t hopper wagon, coded HUV (when vacuum fitted) or HUO (when no longer fitted). This model includes a chassis and to complete the model you will need pinpoint bearing cups, ideally brass (though I have uploaded a model for 3d printed plastic ones) and of course wheels, 20mm axles, 3'1.5" diameter prototype, about 9.1 mm. Finescale and intermediate standard 12mm gauge should be OK. Non-finescale 12mm gauge should be OK but the back to back is quite tight around the hopper bottom and the flanges may be close to the limit, so some patience may be needed to get them turning freely. Put the wheels in the chassis first, then lower the hopper in and _don't_ glue it, or if you must, not so much that it can'be be taken out to service or change the wheels.
I have had one delivered (see photograph) and the two parts fit together, and can be separated, but you do have to be careful of the vacuum pipe when handling.Remember that when you wash the parts they will swell a little so let them dry out. If the hopper won't go in without force, reduce the height of the little bumps that are designed to keep it in place in the chassis so that it goes in more easily. Wheels should be put in before final assembly. Don't try to put the wheels in (or take them out) with the hopper in place, this is likely to put too much strain on the axleguards!
If you don't want the chassis, I have uploaded a separate model to fit the Parkside 12'wb chassis. This may work out cheaper but the brake gear and bearings are very different, and would be better suited to an early batch of diagram 1/148 hopper ( and then you wouldn't want the brake pipe that this hopper has).

UPDATE 2023-04-24 Shapeways won't print this for customers in grey fine detail plastic or smooth fine detail plastic, so I have removed those material options from the model.
