Product Description
2mmFS or N-gauge. Three chassis, one DC2 braked, one Morton 2-shoe lever braked (converted from DC2 during WW2) and and one with dual side independent brakes. Intended for the GWR / BR(W) China Clay wagons to GWR diagram O13 (*see below) and near enough for the BR  1/051. Wheelbase 9', length 16'0" OHS. To complete, add wagon body, couplings, wheels (spoked for the O13, 3-hole disc for the 1/051). For the DC2 and Morton 2-shoe braked wagons, fit straight fine wires between the tips of opposing V-hangers (depending on the coupling used, this may not be possible for the DC2 handle V's). For best running you may need to add weight. The Morton 2-shoe and DSI chassis sometimes had no tie bars between the axleguards, and these can be removed from the model if necessary, but the DC2 chassis did have tie bars, despite not being vacuum fitted. Incidentally, the DC2 pattern placed both brake handles at the non-opening end of the wagon, out of the way of the unloading clay, rather than on diagonally opposite corners like DC3. You could also add tiny strips of styrene hanging down from the solebars either side of the central V-hangers, for door stopping straps.
The British Railways built 1/051 wagon, which became the clay hood 1/013 was based closely on the GWR O13 with few differences, even retaining the unusual OHS length of 16'0".  One difference was that the ends of the headstocks on the BR-built wagons were square and not chamfered like the GWR wagons.
The Morton 2-shoe chassis can be converted to vacuum braked by fitting a vacuum cylinder and an extra set of brake rods (with the V-hanger removed, because the chassis already has one) on the side with the non-reversing lever. The tipping end would generally have been at the other end of the wagon from the handle of the lever which was this side.
I have a set in hand (in smoothest fine detail plastic) and they look good to me, so I'm making them available for sale. My design of 3D printed rapido style couplers (or mounted NEM pockets) fit into the grooves behind the headstocks on these chassis. If you'd like me to upload a set that includes couplers, let me know. On the other hand, if you already have spares, or plan to use something else, just enjoy the lower price of this set.
