Product Description
This is a lapel pin of the logo of the Institute des Hautes Etudes Scientifique (IHES), the French analog of the Princeton ``Institute for Advanced Study". It is in Bures-sur-Yvette, France, not far from Paris, and a famous center for research in Mathematics and Physics. Check out their website: http://ihes.fr All it needs is a standard round pin backing. I have modified my original design to make it smaller by deleting the letters ``IHES" and supporting the logo on a small cylindrical backing which holds the pin. In this latest version, I increased the diameter of the backing to 1" so that the entire logo is supported, and added an off-center pin to keep it from rotating. With permission from the IHES administration to sell this lapel pin, all profits will be donated to ``Friends of IHES, Inc" to support the Institute. The printing in polished bronze steel came out a uniform dark color, so I took some 600 grit polishing paper and gently rubbed the top surface so that the logo itself became shiny, a good contrast to the dark background. That polishing process took less than one minute, and the pictures show the result. This latest (final) version has a slightly larger logo, larger off-center back pin.
