Product Description
Anchor mounted tank wagons were introduced in 1942. The design took advantage of improvements in welding to simplify the attachment of a tank to a wagon chassis without the need for end stanchions, steel ropes or bracing rods. The design was still being produced into the 1960's.
Three designs dominated this type of wagon:
14 ton Class A (for liquids inflammable below 22'C) such as petrol.
14 ton Class B (for liquids inflammable above 22'C) such as fuel oil, or chemicals such as caustic soda.
20 ton Class B
All 3 designs were initially mounted on a standard 17 foot 6 inch, 10 foot wheelbase steel chassis. Later 20 ton examples, including some chemical ferry wagons, used a 12 or 15 foot wheelbase chassis.
1. SMALL - Two 14 ton Class B tanks 2. MEDIUM - Two 14 ton Class A tanks 3. LARGE - Two 20 ton Class B tanks
These models are designed to fit the Peco NR121 10ft WB Steel-type chassis kit or similar. The weight provided can be installed in the tank if folded along its centre line.
Basic ladders are included, but these will be very fragile in Smoothest FIne Detail Plastic. I offer alternative ladders in flexible Versatile Plastic or brass equivalents are available from suppliers such as N Brass Locos.
