Morti was inspired by "Memento Mori"--the ancient idea/tradition of being mindful of death so you don't find yourself slacking off or not appreciating that (for now) you are still alive and can still set out to do what is important to you. I hope Morti will sit on your desk as a daily reminder to keep on working hard on the important things. These days, it is so easy to be distracted, that we forget that we don't have forever on this Earth. And if there's someone you care about that also has dragons to slay, then perhaps Morti can be his or her cheerleader as well.
For a less succinct, and more dramatic explanation of the concept, see here:

Product notes: The sandstone print turned out surprisingly well. Looks great (much better than the Shapeways rendering), and it has a good weight and has the texture of bone almost. It's a nice cheaper alternative to the "lux" metal prints. Do let me know if you want the plastic versions to be available. I found the plastic versions still look great, but the weight might be too light. I didn't make the "polished" materials available since Shapeways tells me some areas of Morti might be a bit too fine for polishing. Damn right, since he's one handsome fellow! And if you want Morti in gold or some of the other pricier metals, also let me know. Morti is also available in Raw Steel on the
Sculpteo platform.
