Product Description
When you need to replicate 3 axle trucks on top of a conventional Lego train motor. This design is more realistic than the standard Lego motor decorative sides (part 2871 ) and includes a fake third axle. This extra wheel is rigidly mounted, the flange dips below the top of the rails but is slightly higher then the actual wheels on the motor and set in from the rails so that it will not interfere with running operations (passes through the flangeways on switches, curves, etc). Works with all train motors produced since 1994 (9v, Power Functions, and Powered UP: Lego parts 590, 70358, x688, 87574, 88002, 88011) with space to hide the Technic axle on the newer battery powered motors. Mounts like the conventional Lego train motor side, but designed for Shapeways fabrication tolerances, i.e., it has clutch but it is looser than the normal motor sides. I use a 2x4 plate above the mounting point on one end, but tape, rubber cement, or even a small scrap of paper between the motor studs and hole in the part will increase the adhesion to the motor block. Includes two sides, enough to decorate one train motor or one dummy truck. I recommend black for most models, use white if you plan to paint them. The black is matte (looking closely you will not mistake it for shiny ABS, but usually it will not stand out either). The gray is close to lego dark bluish gray (dark stone), but unfortunately this material is a lot more expensive than the other colors.
