HO/OO Scale Gordon's Winch

This model is based off of the prop utilized in a handful of episodes in the first and third seasons of Thomas the Tank Engine & Friends television show.  This model is designed to fit onto the buffer beam of a Bachmann HO/OO scale Gordon the Big Express Engine model, though could in theory work with the Hornby model as well (as I have not the Hornby model I cannot say for sure).  The model will require some kind of adhesive or sticky tack to hold it in place on the model's buffer beam.  You will need to cut each part free from a small strip of plastic connecting each of the pieces.  I had to make the model this way in order to reduce the cost of the model.  The wheel of the winch does rotate freely.  The plastic bar which holds the model together is 2.8mm wide (0.11 inches) and 15.5mm long (0.61 Inches) and could easily be replaced with a metal bar of the same width.  You may need to sand your model to make sure it rotates smoothly.  Cable is not provided, you will need to acquire that yourselves.  I recommend either model ship rigging thread, or upholstery thread from a fabric store.  Bear in mind, because this product is so small, it will not have the strength of the original prop.  You may not be able to pull an entire model locomotive with this safely.  I will include the option for a metal version of this product, but it will be much more expensive than the plastic version.
