Product Description
In 1956, the Santa Fe built several batches of semi-streamlined baggage cars in its Topeka shops from "kits" received from Pullman-Standard. The first batch of 50 cars (3700-3749) were built in 1956 and were 64' in length. Another batch of cars of the same length followed in 1958 (3750-3799). Over the next 6 years, another 140 cars were added to the roster (3800-3939) and although technically identical, these were slightly longer, at 74' in length.
Over the years, several N-scale kits have been available for these cars, but never the trucks, until now. The best model of the Express car is available from Skytop Models and with these trucks, you'll have a accurate model of this common baggage car.

The trucks are designed to work with .540" x 36" wheelsets (available separately). If the truck is painted, care must be taken not to fill the wheel mounting holes. To achieve a free-rolling wheel, a .526" x 36" dimension can also be used, or the mounting holes opened up slightly with a Dremel bit or fine dentists burr.

This update has brake caliper mounting plate detail added to the top of the trucks.

To complete a highly-detailed version, a brake kit can be added (see ATSF Express Truck Brake Kit) which adds the brake valves and brake discs to super-detail the truck.
