This is a reproduction of a Singer 500 and 503 Rocketeer detachable spool pin.  These detachable spool pins were not directly connected to the sewing machine, and over time some have been lost.  I have made measurements of an existing detachable spool pin and in its printed form it is very close to the original.

I placed a Shapeways printed copy in the small hole on top of my machine.  It can be snug fit, but if you file the round bottom part a little bit with a nail file or a small needle file, and continually check the fit as you file, it should be just fine.
